Trash Collection During Winter Months

The Department of Public Works needs your assistance with the curbside placement of your recycling and trash during the winter months.  Please place your trash and recycle containers at the foot of your driveway in line with the back of your mailbox, or clear a spot in the snow behind the curb.  This will keep your containers out of the roadway and allow the plow truck to clear the street without hitting the containers.  Waste Management has indicated that the recycling truck will not have a problem reaching your container with the mechanical arm from these locations and that it will not impact their personnel for trash collection.

Because your safety is important to us, please stay at least 200 feet behind snowplows, salt trucks and/or recycling vehicles, in order to give drivers greater visibility.  Remember that trucks make frequent stops and starts, and may need to back up.

Trash Collection Billing (Finance Department)

Residential customers receive a solid waste collection/curbside recycling collection charge once a year on their property tax bill.  Commercial customers receive garbage collection and recycling collection independently.
If you have any questions, please contact the Finance Department, Monday through Thursday, 7:15 AM to 5:30 PM at (248) 624-0885.
