Board of Review
Meetings:
This board meets on the first and second Tuesday in March. The meetings last six hours with a minimum of three hours being held after 6 p.m. The board also meets in July and/or December as needed.
Requirements:
The Board of Review is a three-member board that serves three-year terms and shall be appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by the Council.
General Responsibilities:
Members review the assessment roll on behalf of City of Wixom residents and property owners and hear taxpayer appeals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members should have an interest in or demonstrated experience in banking, finance, property appraisal, accessing, real estate, or development law.

Cemetery Board
Meetings:
The board meets annually on the first Wednesday in June.
Requirements:
The board is a five-member board that serves five-year terms and shall be appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by the Council.
General Responsibilities:
Members support the integrity of the cemetery, provide input and direction for future projects, and maintain the value of the history of the Wixom Cemetery.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members are residents with an interest in history, landscape design and genealogy.

City Council
Meetings:
The Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm
Requirements:
The Council is composed of seven members including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The Mayor serves a two-year term while the other members serve a four-year term. All members are elected by the people.
General Responsibilities:
The Council is responsible for policies and programs to residents; respond to constituent needs and complaints; and represent the community to other levels of government.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members should have an interest in the City with a general knowledge of negotiation, law, public safety, geography and customer service.

Downtown Development Authority (DDA)
Meetings:
The board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 am
Requirements:
The DDA is composed of eight not more than twelve members, one of which shall be the Mayor. Members serve four-year terms.
General Responsibilities:
The DDA is responsible for the organization, design, promotion and economic vitality of the City’s downtown.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members should have an interest in the City’s downtown as a resident, business owner or property owner.

Library Board of Trustees
Meetings:
The board meets monthly on the last Monday of the month at 7:00 pm
Requirements:
The board has six members that serve a six year term. All members are elected by the people.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members should have an interest in the Library and community with a skill set in funding, policies and community outreach.

Parks and Recreation Commission
Meetings:
The board meets quarterly on the second Monday of the month at 6 pm.
Requirements:
The board has nine members and serves a three-year term and shall be appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by the Council.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members should have an interest in the recreation needs of the City and assist in the planning/implementation of recreational events and park development.

Planning Commission
Meetings:
The board meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at 7:00 pm
Requirements:
The board is a seven-member board who serve three-year terms. Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
General Responsibilities:
The Planning Commission is responsible for ensuring the City’s Master Plan for Future Land Use, Zoning Ordinance, and maps are implemented through site plan review and ordinance amendments. The Commission recommends action to Council on all matters affecting the physical development of the City.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members should have an interest in or demonstrated experience in architecture, landscape architecture, building construction, civil engineering, land use planning, or real estate development.

Senior Commission
Meetings:
The board meets quarterly at 11 am
Requirements:
The board has seven members that serve five-year terms. Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
General Responsibilities:
The board serves as an advisory to the City Council on the needs of the senior citizens.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members should have interest in all matters relating to the educational, cultural, and social program needs of the senior citizens.

Tax Abatement Review Committee
Meetings:
The committee meets when an application for tax abatement is filed with the City.
Requirements:
This Committee shall be composed of not less than seven nor more than eleven members, of which one shall be the Mayor. Members have three-year terms.
General Responsibilities:
The committee meets with the and makes a recommendation to approve or deny the abatement. The Council makes the final abatement decision.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members of this committee shall have a vetted interest in the affected taxing entities and economic growth of the City.

Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)
Meetings:
ZBA Board meetings are held on the second Monday of every month at 7:00 pm
Requirements:
ZBA is an eight-member board that serve for three-year terms appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by the Council.
General Responsibilities:
The board is responsible for review and action on appeals of the City’s Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map through administration reviews, variances and exception appeal types.
Preferred Qualifications:
Members should have an interest in or demonstrated experience in architecture, building construction, engineering, land use planning, real estate or development.
