Leadership Statement on Bias-Free Policing

• Bias-free policing is required by the Constitution, essential to legitimate law enforcement, and promotes community trust and confidence.

   

• The members of the Wixom Police Department are committed to bias-free policing.

   

• To promote bias-free policing, we are doing the following:

   

  • revising, creating, and implementing policies that are consistent with best practices
  • seeking out and conducting periodic training to all department members on the topic of bias-free policing
  • staying abreast of the best information on the topic of bias
  • ensuring our members have quality in-car and body worn camera equipment
  • ensuring our members are compliant with policies regarding in-car and body worn camera equipment
