Motor Vehicle Accident Reports
If your motor vehicle has been involved in an accident, you may request a copy of the report in person at the Wixom Police Department. Alternatively you may purchase one from the Oakland County CLEMIS website ( (Courts Law Enforcement Management Information System) www.clemis.org. Reports are generally available 48 to 72 hours after the incident occurred.
Police Reports/ FOIA
If you need a copy of Police report you can request a copy through The Michigan Freedom of Information Act, Public Act 442 of 1976, MCL 15.231 et seq. The FOIA request form can be obtained at the Police Department or click here.The request will be processed within five business days. The request can be faxed to the Wixom Police Department at (248) 624-0860, mailed, delivered personally, or emailed to FOIA@Wixomgov.org.
PBT – Preliminary Breathalyzer Test
The Department administers PBT tests to anyone for a fee at any time, as long as personnel is available.
Fingerprinting
Inked Fingerprints can be taken at the Wixom Police Department Monday through Friday between 8:00am to 4:00pm. Although a reservation is not necessary, it is recommended that you call ahead and make sure that the personnel is available at (248) 624-6114. Electronic LIVESCAN fingerprints will only be done for individuals with a court order for fingerprints.
DNA
DNA Swabs will only be done for individuals with a court order.
Vehicle Impounds
Vehicles towed & impounded as a result of an arrest require an impound release form from the Wixom Police Department prior to the vehicle being released from the tow company. The registered owner must be present to obtain the vehicle release. There must also be two valid drivers present. The Police Department assesses a $10 administration charge. All other towing and storage fees are assessed by and paid directly to the towing company.
Property- Arrested Subjects
Personal property held by the Police Department following an arrest can be released to the individual arrested upon their release. If the arrestee is unable to collect their property, it may be released to a designated other person. The arrestee must sign a release authorizing another person to whom their belongings may be released.
Firearm Licensing
The Wixom Police Department offers residents the ability to apply for a firearm purchase permit. Residents need a valid MI ID at the time of application. After an application is completed, records personnel will complete a background check, prior to issuing the permit. Completed Firearm Purchase Permits can be delivered to the Police Department at any time.The Wixom Police Department offers free Gun Locks on request.
Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPL)
Concealed Pistol Licenses are issued by Oakland County. You can view the Application form and requirements HERE.

Local Records Check
A Local Records Check is frequently required for employment, adoption, licensing, and other purposes and will only be conducted on adults which reside in the city. The check will display all police contact within the City of Wixom (only). A person requesting a Local Records Check on anyone but themselves must have a notarized authorization from the person being researched.
MICHIGAN criminal history background checks are available from Michigan State Police. Please note this will return public Michigan conviction records only. Please visit ICHAT (Internet criminal history access tool).
Sex Offender Registry (SOR)
Sex Offenders are required to register to the local Police Department in which they reside:
Registration is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Friday 8:00 AM - Noon
Although a reservation is not necessary, it is recommended that you call ahead and make sure that the personnel is available.
Be sure to bring a valid government-issued photo ID, registrations on all vehicles you have access to, and if you are on probation or parole, a copy of your conditions of release.

Absentee House Checks
If you will be gone for an extended period of time and would like the Police Department to drive by and observe your residence, please fill out form below and deliver it to the Police Department.

Hope not Handcuffs
This program is an initiative aimed at bringing law enforcement and community organizations together in an effort to find viable treatment options for individuals seeking help to reduce their dependency on drugs and/or alcohol.
Hope not Handcuffs partners with local law enforcement to provide a place where a person who is struggling with any addiction can come to any participating police agency and ask for help. These individuals will be treated with dignity and respect while they await their liaison from the Hope not Handcuffs association to arrive and guide them through the treatment process.
